Types of Warehouse Inventory

Learn about the types of inventory our systems can help you track

We understand that each warehouse and stockroom handles a variety of inventory, each with its own set of unique tracking requirements. That’s why we designed our Warehouse Inventory System to be able to track all types of inventory. We can help your organization keep track of your items no matter what type of inventory you have, in the way that best suits your organization’s needs.

How Do You Categorize Inventory?

Learn how we group warehouse inventory in our inventory control software.

Standard Inventory

Standard Inventory items can be any warehouse inventory that doesn’t have an expiry date and does not need each unit to be tracked individually. Standard inventory can be defined with a stock number and can be tracked by location, number as well as quantity across multiple locations.

Serialized Inventory

In our systems, this category of inventory lets you individually track inventory items via unique identifiers like serial numbers. You can still keep track of serialized inventory after they leave your organization’s facility. This includes appliances, equipment, medication vials and more.

Serialized with Quantity

Serialized with Quantity items are inventory items that have a quantity which will be consumed/used. For example, medication bottles with pills, chemical drums with contents that get used, rolls of paper or textiles with the material being used up over time. These inventory items can be measured in quantity, weight, length, volume, and more.

Batch/Lot Inventory

When it comes to Batch-Lot Inventory, these are items that are produced in batches and have expiration dates. This can include food, medical supplies, chemicals, and so on. Batch–lot inventory tracking also lets you take advantage of date codes and lot codes tracking. You can easily recall defective inventory by tracing it back to the batch or lot they were created with.

Non-inventory

Warehouse Non-Inventory items include anything that is issued out, but not received. For example, you can track services or drop shipped inventory. This serves as our “Other” category, helping you keep track of inventory that doesn’t fit into any of our other four categories.
